The zero-emission fuel tanker WOLF 1, built by Hicri Ercili for Petrol Ofisi Group, was launched at a ceremony held in Yalova. A first in the sector, WOLF 1 is 100% Turkish-engineered and will provide our country with a competitive edge in international waters as part of Türkiye's sustainable maritime vision. WOLF 1 is the first in a series of four fuel supply vessel projects.
The fuel tanker named WOLF 1, built by Hicri Ercili Group for Petrol Ofisi Group, was launched at a ceremony held at the shipyard in Yalova Altınova. The ceremony was attended by Turkish Deputy Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Durmuş Ünüvar, Petrol Ofisi Group CEO Mehmet Abbasoğlu, Hicri Ercili Group Chairman Murat Ercili, local government representatives, and important figures from the maritime and energy sectors. Designed in line with the zero-emission principle, a first in the sector, the ship stands out as a tangible outcome of Turkish maritime's vision for sustainable maritime transport in national and international waters.
Petrol Ofisi Group CEO Mehmet Abbasoğlu commented on the project: "Türkiye’s merchant fleet ranks among the top 10 in the world. The strategic position of maritime transport on the geopolitical agenda plays a vital role in Türkiye's goal of complete energy independence and its energy transition agenda. We are so fortunate that Petrol Ofisi Group can contribute to this picture. It is a source of pride for us to launch our WOLF 1 barge, designed and built by Turkish engineers. Three more of our ships are under construction. Zero-emission fuel supply tankers will set an example for regional and global waters. We are honored to be part of this project with Hicri Ercili. Guided by our Ministry's motto of safe, secure, and sustainable maritime transport in clean seas, we will continue to boost such pioneering investments and implement value-added projects in the century of Türkiye.
Murat Ercili, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Hicri Ercili Group, also said, "Making maritime transport more environmentally conscious is no longer a choice but a necessity. We closely follow international developments and see expanding our fleet with environmentally friendly, innovative, and high-tech ships as a strategic goal. In this context, WOLF 1 is not just a new ship, but also a modern reflection of integrated production and logistics capabilities in the maritime sector. This project is a crucial step in our long-term sustainability strategy. Built as the only one of its kind, this vessel will be used to transport alternative fuels with zero emissions, creating significant value and prestige for both organizations as an environmentally conscious maritime solution. I would like to thank all our engineers, technicians, shipyard workers, valued partners, and Mr. Mehmet Abbasoğlu, CEO of Petrol Ofisi Group, and his esteemed team for their trust in us for their contributions to this project."
The Only One in Its Class: A Reference Project in Alternative Fuel Transportation
WOLF 1, with a capacity of 1,750 DWT, is the first in a series of four fuel supply vessels to be built for Petrol Ofisi Group. It combines operational efficiency and environmental sensitivity with its infrastructure suitable for alternative fuel transportation, fully automated systems, and high discharge capacity. Developed in line with a zero-emission approach, the vessel represents a new generation of tanker concept that aims for lower environmental impact and higher operational performance in energy logistics. The launch of WOLF 1 marks a strategic milestone that intersects the engineering expertise of Turkish shipbuilding with the sustainability vision of the energy sector.
